Write Video Scripts That Convert Using the AIDA Model

Your YouTube retention graph shouldn't look like a ski slope. If viewers bounce before the 30-second mark, your script is missing a battle-tested copywriting framework: AIDA.

AIDA stands for Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action. It’s the framework top tech channels use to turn casual scrollers into obsessed subscribers.

Here is how to map it to your next tech video:

1. Attention (0–5 Seconds)
Stop the scroll. Skip the generic channel intro and hit them with a bold claim, visual flex, or jarring reality.

  • Example: "I replaced my $2,000 MacBook with a $50 Raspberry Pi for a week. Here’s everything that broke."

2. Interest (5–30 Seconds)
Keep them hooked by introducing stakes, intriguing specs, or a specific problem you're solving.

  • Example: "Most people think mini PCs can't handle 4K editing. But after tweaking three hidden BIOS settings, the render benchmarks blew my mind."

3. Desire (The Meat
of the Video)

Make the viewer feel the payoff. Don't just list technical specs; show them how this tech upgrades their life, desk setup, or workflow.

  • Example: "Imagine exporting a 20-minute video in under two minutes without hearing your cooling fans kick on once. That’s what this chip enables."

4. Action (The Outro)
Give one clear directive while viewer momentum is peaking.

  • Example: "Drop a comment with your current GPU, and check out this next video to see how it compares."

Stop rambling and start structuring. Before you hit record, run every line of your outline through the AIDA filter. Watch your average view duration soar.
