AIDA Model: The Framework for Better Video Scripts

Most tech creators make the same mistake: they treat their scripts like a technical manual. But viewers don’t want a manual; they want a narrative that solves a problem. If your retention graph looks like a ski slope, you need the AIDA Model.

AIDA is a classic copywriting framework repurposed for the YouTube era. It stands for Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action. Here’s how to build it into your next tech review or tutorial.

Attention: The Pattern Interrupt
You have roughly three seconds before a viewer bounces. Don't start with "Hey guys, welcome back." Start with a stakes-raising statement or a visual curiosity.
Example: "This $500 GPU shouldn't be able to run Cyberpunk at 4K, but I found a workaround."

Interest: The Knowledge Gap
Now that you have them, you must keep them. Identify a specific pain point or a "secret" they don't know yet. This is where you bridge the hook to the meat of the video.
Example: "Most benchmarks miss the one setting that actually bottlenecks this card. After 40 hours of testing, I found the culprit."

Desire: The Visual Proof
Tech is aspirational. This is where you show the results, the sleek B-roll, and the "before and after" stats. Make them crave the outcome—whether that’s a cleaner code base or a faster render time.
Example: "Look at these frame times. The stuttering is completely gone, and the thermals dropped by 10 degrees."

Action: The Frictionless Close
Don’t just say "Like and subscribe." Give a specific, singular directive that feels like the natural next step.
Example: "Download my optimization preset at the link below and watch this video next to fix your CPU thermals."

Stop guessing what works. Use AIDA to turn your technical knowledge into a high-retention machine.
