If you've joined a crypto signals channel on Telegram, you've probably seen messages that look like this:
Anatomy of a Trading Signal
A professional crypto signal contains these components:
1. Trading Pair
Example: BTC/USDT — tells you which cryptocurrency to trade.
2. Direction
LONG (buy, expecting price to go up) or SHORT (sell, expecting price to go down).
3. Entry Zone
Example: Entry: $64,200 - $64,500 — the price range where you should enter the trade.
4. Take Profit (TP) Levels
- TP1 (+3%): $66,200 — close 30% of position
- TP2 (+5%): $67,400 — close 40% of position
- TP3 (+10%): $70,600 — close remaining 30%
Multiple TPs let you lock in profits progressively.
5. Stop Loss (SL)
Example: SL: $62,100 (-3.5%) — the price where you exit to limit losses. NEVER trade without a stop loss.
6. Leverage
Example: 3x Isolated — how much borrowed capital you're using. Beginners should start with 1x-2x.
7. Confidence Score
Example: Confidence: 8/10 — how confident the system or analyst is in this trade.
How to Evaluate Signal Quality
- Win rate above 50% with proper risk management is profitable
- Risk-to-reward ratio should be at least 1:2
- Track record must be verifiable with real data
- Transparent methodology — avoid black-box signals
