What Is the Solunar Table?

The solunar table is a tool that predicts the best times to fish based on the position of the moon and sun. It was developed by John Alden Knight in 1926, who after analyzing over 200 records of exceptional catches, discovered that 90% occurred during specific periods related to lunar transit.

How Does It Work?

Solunar theory is based on the idea that fish (and other animals) have periods of peak feeding activity that coincide with astronomical events:

Major Periods (2 hours)

Major periods occur when the moon is directly overhead (upper lunar transit) or directly below (lower lunar transit) your location. During these periods, gravitational pull is at its maximum and fish feed more aggressively.

Minor Periods (1 hour)
