When you ask Claude Code "what's open near me?", it has to ask where you are. This tutorial fixes that in 2 minutes. Your phone answers instead, and only when you tap Allow.
You need: Claude Code, a phone (iPhone or Android), and a Google account.
Step 1: Connect Claude Code (30 seconds)
claude mcp add --transport http whereabot https://relay.whereabot.io/mcp
Then run /mcp in Claude Code, pick whereabot and sign in with Google in the browser. There is no API key to copy.
Using Claude.ai or Claude Desktop instead? Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, and paste https://relay.whereabot.io/mcp.
Step 2: Put the app on your phone (1 minute)
- On your phone, open whereabot.io/app.
- Sign in with the same Google account.
- Add it to your Home Screen (Safari: Share → Add to Home Screen). Allow notifications when it asks.
It is a web app, so there is no store and no install wait.
Step 3: Ask (10 seconds)
In Claude Code:
Where am I right now?
Your phone shows this:
Tap Allow. Claude gets one GPS fix: latitude, longitude, accuracy and time.
Now try something useful
Find a pharmacy that is open now within a 10-minute walk of me.
I need to be at the airport by 18:00. When should I leave from here, by train?
Pick a quiet café near me where I can work for 2 hours.
Claude asks your phone, you tap Allow, and it plans from where you really are.
What you control
- Every request asks you first. For an agent you trust, choose "Always allow"; the phone then tells you each time it was used.
- One point, no tracking. No history, no background location.
- Nothing stored. The relay passes the fix to the agent and forgets it (privacy statement).
- Open source (MIT): github.com/whereabot/whereabot.
