Ask Claude "find a pharmacy that is open now near me" and it asks where you are. You type an address, it guesses, and you lose a minute.
Whereabot gives your agent your real location, only when you allow it. The agent asks, your phone shows "Your agent Claude Code wants to know your location", you tap Allow, and the agent gets one GPS fix.
Three things you can do with it
1. "Near me" questions, answered from where you really are
Find a pharmacy that is open now and within a 10-minute walk of me.
You tap Allow on your phone. Claude gets your coordinates and searches from there. You type no address.
2. Travel: "from here" questions
I need to be at the airport by 18:00. When should I leave from where I am now, by train?
The agent plans from where you stand now, not from your hotel or home address.
3. Family and friends, with their consent
Where is Dana right now?
This works only if Dana shares her location with you in the Whereabot app. Her phone asks her first: "Ofek's agent Claude wants to know your location". She taps Allow or Reject. You get her location only when she allows it.
Why it is safe to try
- You approve each request. The agent gets nothing until you tap Allow. For an agent you trust, you can choose "Always allow"; the phone then tells you each time that the agent checked your location.
- One fix, not tracking. Each request returns one point: latitude, longitude, accuracy and time. There is no history and no background tracking.
- Nothing stored. The relay passes the fix to the agent that asked and forgets it. It writes no location to a database or a log (privacy statement).
- Open source (MIT). Read every line: github.com/whereabot/whereabot.
Try it in 2 minutes
- Connect your agent. In Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http whereabot https://relay.whereabot.io/mcp
Then run /mcp and sign in. On Claude.ai or Claude Desktop: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, and paste https://relay.whereabot.io/mcp.
- Set up your phone. Open whereabot.io/app on your iPhone, sign in with the same Google account, and add it to your Home Screen.
- Ask your agent: "Where am I right now?" Then tap Allow on your phone.
New this week
- The browser app gets notifications, so you can answer without keeping it open (#6).
- The app shows a first question to try, and confirms when your first answer works (#34).
- Requests are rate-limited per person, so no agent can flood your phone (#28).
