This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 2: Side Hustle
What I Built
GigDraft AI is an intelligent product listing companion built specifically for small online sellers, hobbyist crafters, and side-hustlers.
For many micro-entrepreneurs, writing persuasive, SEO-optimized copy for platforms like Etsy, eBay, or Shopify is a daunting and exhausting chore. GigDraft AI eliminates this roadblock entirely. A seller simply enters raw, basic parameters about their item (such as materials, fragrance notes, size, and packaging format), and the application instantly shapes that data into highly professional, marketplace-ready copy.
Value Proposition:
- Target Audience: Small scale artisans, thrift flippers, and boutique e-commerce owners.
- The Problem It Solves: It beats writer's block, maintains high-quality copy standards across an entire store, and streamlines the time-to-market for fresh inventory.
- Why They Would Pay: Copywriting services are expensive. A small, accessible subscription or credit-based model is an easy expense for a seller looking to buy back hours of their time every week.

GigDraft-AI
A product listing writer for small online sellers. A seller enters basic information about a product, and the app uses an open-weight language model to draft marketplace-ready copy. Example, seller who makes candle could enter the material, fragrance, size, and packaging detail and get a product title, description, and suggested search tag.

How I Built It
The application is constructed with a fast, lightweight, and completely accessible front-end architecture using clean HTML5, custom CSS styling, and modular vanilla JavaScript (app.js).
To transform rough variables into elegant prose, the back-end infrastructure taps into an open-weight language model optimized for product formatting and contextual synthesis.
- The Generation Loop: The application packages the seller's specific input values (e.g., Artisan French Lavender, Soy Wax, 8oz Jar) into a structured prompt matrix. The open-weight model processes this context and parses the result into three key buckets on the user interface: an attention-grabbing Product Title, an engaging Rich Description, and a targeted array of Search Tags to optimize visibility.
Why Does Open Innovation Matter?
Open innovation and the availability of high-performance open-weight models are foundational assets for a product like GigDraft AI:
- Lowering the Barrier to Entry: Commercial, closed APIs impose rigid per-token pricing structures that make it highly risky or expensive to scale free or cheap tools for micro-businesses. Open models grant developers the economic flexibility to provide affordable services.
- True Sovereignty and Tailoring: Using open architecture means the engine isn't a generic black box controlled by a single vendor. It allows us to fine-tune local models directly on high-converting marketplace structures, preserving absolute control over how data is processed and formatted.
My Agent Session
My First User
I gave an early build of the tool to an independent artisan who produces hand-poured lavender candles. Previously, they spent roughly 15 to 20 minutes drafting individual descriptions and trying to guess strong keywords for search tags. By feeding their material and scent traits into GigDraft AI, they generated a complete profile in under ten seconds, giving them immediate keywords (#SoyWax, #LavenderCandle) they hadn't initially considered.
