Customize bash shell for user while login ?

I hope I can find an ans here. I want to customize my bash login when I login to a red-hat server. I see online where I need to change under /etc , but thats not I am looking for.

Basically when i login , i should get a custom message , memory and cpu of the server etc.

You should be able to put this in ~/.bashrc.
