As a solo founder or small team building an MVP, you've probably experienced this: a never-ending backlog, shiny object syndrome, and the fear of building the wrong thing first.
I've been there. After spending weeks building features nobody used, I created a simple 5-minute system that changed everything.
The framework: MVP Feature Prioritization Matrix
Instead of guessing, score each feature on 8 dimensions:
- Impact — user value
- Effort — hours to build
- Risk — technical/execution risk
- User Demand — based on real conversations
- Strategic Fit — aligns with your vision
- Revenue Potential — direct or indirect
- Time-to-Build — weeks vs months
- Dependencies — blockers
Weigh each dimension (e.g. Impact 20%, User Demand 15%, Effort 10%) and compute a Priority Score automatically. Features above 4.0 are "Build Now" — everything else gets tiered.
The best part? The entire system lives in a single Google Sheet. No tools to install, no learning curve.
What you get for free?
I built a ready-to-use MVP Feature Prioritization Matrix template for Google Sheets. It includes:
- 4 tabs: Backlog, Scoring Matrix, Dashboard, Decision Log
- Auto-calculated priority scores with conditional formatting
- A bubble chart to visualize Effort vs Impact
- 10 sample features preloaded so you see the system in action
- Dropdowns, formulas, and instructions — 5-minute setup

It's $24 — less than one hour of your developer's time, and it could save you weeks of wasted effort.
Happy building! 🚀
