Will AI take over photography?

#ai

AI is giving chance to everybody to create wonders. The urge to be creative exists in every human mind. But the sad truth is not everyone is a great photographer and they can't capture the beauty before their eyes with the lens in their hand.

Photography is the art of capturing the right amount of light in the right amount of time. It may sound simple, but the involvement of a human mind and vision is what made photography, a scientific job, into an art. Slowly after the evolution of computers, photography has seen new advances in its art with the innovation of editing software.

Software has given a priceless opportunity to photographers to enhance their images. Sometimes we can't capture the magic that runs in our mind, but it is possible now by using various photo editors. And I think involving software in the art of photography can be considered as the first step for photography to enter the realm of AI.

What is an AI?
To say in simple terms, AI is a man-made machine language that is used to make machines think like humans. It might remind you of The Terminator but don't worry, we are very far from reaching that point yet. AI is a large topic and a subject that needs professional knowledge. But at the end of the day, the realm of AI is striving to make machines work like humans, for humans.

AI in photography
People are fond of taking photos, to capture the moment and to live in that moment whenever they see that picture. As technology upgraded, even the mindset of people regarding photos is updated. They want to enter different worlds using their photos, one wants to look at his older self by using tools like FaceApp, and someone wants to look like a different gender or ethnicity using the same app. And some other wants a professional headshot using their selfies with software like Alter AI.

It is here AI is already here, but what takes it up to the next level is we can create images without having an existing one. Enter the command or type the right prompt, voila, you have your completely AI-generated pic captured from your thoughts. software like Midjourney is all about it. Capturing the mind, yes this is the best way to say that.

How can it change the art of photography?
As said above, AI is giving chance to everybody to create wonders. The urge to be creative exists in every human mind. But a sad truth is not everyone is a great photographer and they all can't capture the beauty before their eyes with the lens in their hand, just like a professional photographer. This hurdle is crossed using AI.

You clicked a sunrise picture, but you couldn't capture the sun like how you wanted it to be. So, what, upload the picture into the software, enter the prompt saying, "make the sun reddish", not satisfied? add another prompt saying "Add two birds flying in front of that rising sun". Great, now we have created a beautiful sunrise image which usually takes a lot of time and patience. This is how AI can change a picture or create a picture.

Conclusion: Will AI take over photography?
What do you think, will it? or not?
There are many chances that this process can improve further and further and can even create a new kind of art form like Dali and Van Gogh. But you know what? people can't respect it as much as they respect the art of these great artists, because it lacks the human touch and effort.

People might think everybody can create this art using the software and all they must do is to know enough English to write the correct prompts. So, a thing that can be done by every human being has more chances to be valued less, unlike art, which is handcrafted with human effort. AI can create wonders, but it can never beat the human effort. So, no, AI will not take over anything but it can work parallelly with the people who know how to use it.
