I've been researching EMI design practices for Ethernet interfaces. The RJ45 connector seems to be where a lot of problems start.
My current checklist:
- Shielded connector with direct chassis ground
- Integrated magnetics (short trace = small antenna)
- Tight differential pair coupling
- Solid ground plane under Ethernet section
- Bob Smith termination
- Low-capacitance TVS diodes
What's saved you during EMI testing? Any hard-learned lessons?
