What's Your #1 Tip for Passing EMI with an Ethernet Port?

I've been researching EMI design practices for Ethernet interfaces. The RJ45 connector seems to be where a lot of problems start.

My current checklist:

  • Shielded connector with direct chassis ground
  • Integrated magnetics (short trace = small antenna)
  • Tight differential pair coupling
  • Solid ground plane under Ethernet section
  • Bob Smith termination
  • Low-capacitance TVS diodes

What's saved you during EMI testing? Any hard-learned lessons?
