I personally re-trace my steps to determine whether it was something other than just sheer volume of "stuff" that caused me to burn out - i.e are there other things out of your control having an impact on your life/environment perhaps.

If it is volume, like you have alluded to in your post, my advice would be to plan ahead and apportion time to each "thing" you have to do. It requires ruthless self-discipline to just stop coding/reading because you're feeling spent (especially for passionate programmers), but it will serve you well to listen to your mind and body.

Figuring out how much you can handle simultaneously is an important life skill and the sooner you can do it, I'm confident the better you will feel. We're not super heroes - I know I'm not!
