My experience
As lockdown started and I had devoted my surplus time in learning new stuff, I started pushing all my projects/codes on GitHub.Yet, I was unaware about the open source contribution and the importance of PRs as well as solving issues. Somewhere, I read about Hacktoberfest but it was mid of October already. So I instantly learned about pull requests and made 4 PRs related to data structures that I have learnt so far. They all were accepted which elevated my happiness and it has given me enough confidence. I will continue doing open source contributions.
I am waiting for October 2021 now. Also, I am happy to join DEV community.
