Git history is a treasure trove. GitScry helps you mine it.

Your Git history is a treasure trove.

Years of implementation decisions, bug fixes, failed approaches, and hidden context are buried inside it.

I built GitScry to help you mine that history.

Three of my favorite commands:

  • gitscry examples — find how similar changes were implemented before.
  • gitscry why — understand why a specific line or symbol exists.
  • gitscry trace-fix — start from a fix and trace it back to the change that introduced the problem.

Everything runs locally. Your repository history stays on your machine.

GitScry works on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

I'm actively looking for real-world edge cases. If GitScry gives you a wrong result, misses something, or simply feels awkward to use, please open an issue.

I genuinely want the feedback.
