Pin a File / Folder to the Taskbar / Start Menu

This method will allow you to pin any file or folder to the Windows Taskbar or Start Menu.

  • Find the file or folder you want to pin.

  • Right-click it and create a shortcut to it anywhere you'd like (same folder, desktop or even a designated folder for this purpose).

  • Right-click this new shortcut and choose Properties.

  • In the Shortcut tab, find the Target field and at the very beginning of whatever is typed in there - add the word explorer (with a space after!).

  • So for example, a shortcut to the C:\Users folder would become explorer C:\Users.

  • This shortcut can then be pinned to the Windows Taskbar or the Start Menu.

  • Don't forget to change the Icon too if you want to!
