When the metal tip needs a wipe

I keep a single 20g tube for the eye area, and this note is about the misses rather than the ordinary pass. The cream is light and it is there to hydrate. The cap carries a metal head that feels cool in the hand, and that head can give a small vibration. I live in the UK. If I cannot point at one of those facts, I do not write it down.

What I refuse to expect

Complete removal of dark circles is not a result I wait for. No cream for the eyes can promise that. I judge a pass by whether tired under-eyes look a little brighter, and whether puffiness and fine dehydration lines look reduced. Results vary from one day to the next, so a dull morning is not a verdict on the tube.

Most skin types are listed as suitable. Even so, I try a small patch on the first occasion, and I repeat that check whenever the skin feels sensitive. I would rather spend that check on a small dab than discover a reaction halfway round both eyes.

When a pass goes wrong

A sticky feel means I squeezed too much. The whole tube is 20g, so the amount for one sitting stays small, either on the metal tip or placed on the eye contour. A long ribbon only slides.

  1. I blot the extra off the metal with a tissue and stop there.
  2. I check that cleansing has already dried. Damp skin lets the cream gather on the lashes.
  3. I turn the vibration on for one short pass only, inner corner outwards, somewhere between 30 and 60 seconds.
  4. I press what remains with the ring finger until the skin no longer feels wet.
  5. Concealer and any other makeup wait until that film has gone.

A pale trace on the lashes gets one more pat. I do not run a second full minute to chase it.

Putting the head away

I use the metal for the glide because it stays cooler than my fingers. Before I cap the tube I wipe the tip, so the next pass starts on clean metal. The cap goes back on straight away. The two sittings I keep are morning and evening. If the under-eye still looks tired after lunch, I leave it. Another pass has not moved the limit in the first section.

The label I re-read

Makeup waits until the cream has absorbed fully. Concealer on a wet film only shifts the cream about.

If the contour feels tight the next day, I read the label instead of guessing: centella asiatica, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, pearl powder and niacinamide. I am asking whether I left too much on. I am not treating that list as a promise.

Tube size, and the path that cool metal head is meant to take, are the notes I check on yikavo.co.uk.
