Interesting discussion. As the dev lead for SeaIM, we’ve been tackling the same UX vs. Security trade-off. While Signal set the standard for E2EE, we believe the next leap isn't just encryption—it’s Identity Sovereignty.
Most "secure" IMs still tether you to a centralized phone number (a legacy vulnerability). We’ve open-sourced our Web3-based identity layer on https://www.sea.im/ that allows for zero-knowledge proof authentication. No phone number, no centralized metadata.
We also integrated a local-first AI vector matching engine (privacy-preserved) to solve the "discovery" problem in encrypted networks. Check out our /security whitepaper if you're into AES-256-GCM and decentralized node routing. Would love to hear the community's thoughts on our approach to metadata obfuscation.
Privacy is justice. 🌊
