I think that from the perspective of a developer, in the cases where the App that is requested to develop can't run in a browser for many reasons, and your main dev tools are HTML, JS and CSS, the best option is to use things like electron.
And I have more than 5 electron Apps installed and daily used; also, I use an App named Station (getstation.com) that allows to add many web apps, maybe you could try to compare it like you did it before :)
