Sydney web design agency mobile performance benchmark

We tested 9 Sydney web design agency homepages with Google's PageSpeed Insights API (mobile, lab data) on 2026-07-30. Numbers are reproducible — re-run the same URLs in PSI to verify.

This is original research, not scraped rankings. We publish the methodology so journalists, bloggers, and business owners can cite it.

Key findings

  • Average mobile performance score: 61/100 across 8 sites that returned data (1 did not respond to the test).
  • 0 of 8 met the lab thresholds for LCP (< 2.5s) and CLS (< 0.1).
  • 1 of 8 had enough real-user traffic for Chrome to report field INP.
  • D-LAB (d-lab.codes) scored 71/100 on mobile.

Methodology

  • Tool: PageSpeed Insights v5 API, mobile strategy, performance category.
  • Pages tested: Each agency's homepage (https://domain/).
  • Metrics: Lighthouse performance score, LCP and CLS from lab data; INP from Chrome UX Report field data only.
  • On INP: INP can only be measured from real visitors. Sites without enough Chrome traffic show "no field data" rather than a lab substitute — Time to Interactive is not INP, and reporting it as such would be misleading. Pass/fail below therefore reflects LCP and CLS only.
  • Limitations: Lab scores vary by run; we snapshot one point in time. Does not measure UX, SEO, or conversion.

Why this matters for Sydney businesses

Most buyers compare agencies on portfolio and price — but site speed is a trust signal. If an agency's own homepage loads slowly on mobile, that's a data point worth asking about before you hire them.
