My CS Journey: Why I Chose Computer Science and What I Hope to Build

Hello, everyone! My name is Abdel Alfarish M. Saidali, and I am a first-year BSCS student. I chose Computer Science because I want to understand how applications, websites, and computer systems are made.

Technology is part of our daily lives, and I want to learn how these things are created. I know that learning programming can be challenging, especially when I encounter errors in my code. However, I believe that making mistakes is part of learning. I want to improve my skills through practice and patience.

Why I Chose Computer Science

I chose Computer Science because I want to understand how technology works and how it can help people. I am interested in learning how to create programs that can solve problems and make everyday tasks easier.

I also want to improve my skills in:

  • Programming and writing code.
  • Web development and creating websites.
  • Problem-solving and logical thinking.
  • Software development and creating useful applications.

I believe that studying Computer Science will help me gain knowledge and prepare for future opportunities in technology.

My Journey as a Beginner

As a first-year BSCS student, I am learning the basics of C++. Some of the things I am learning include:

  • Variables and data types
  • Input and output
  • Simple calculations
  • Conditional statements

Here is an example of a simple C++ program:

This program displays Hello, World! on the screen. It is a simple example, but it helps beginners understand the basic structure of a C++ program.

Learning these concepts is an important first step toward understanding how to write programs and solve problems using code.

What I Hope to Build in the Future

In the future, I hope to create applications and systems that can help people with their everyday tasks. I also want to become more confident in coding and learn how to solve problems independently.

Some projects I hope to build include:

  • A student record system to organize student information.
  • A personal website to showcase my skills and achievements.
  • A calculator program that performs basic calculations.
  • A study planner to help students organize their schoolwork.

I understand that becoming a good programmer takes time, effort, and patience. For now, I want to focus on learning the fundamentals and building a strong foundation in Computer Science.

Conclusion

My journey in Computer Science is just beginning. I may not know everything yet, but I am willing to learn and improve one step at a time. I believe that every activity and mistake can teach me something valuable.

My goal is to continue practicing, learning new programming concepts, and creating useful projects in the future. I know that with dedication and hard work, I can continue improving my skills.
