Building Better Money Habits with AI: Why I Created a Receipt & Expense Tracker

As developers, we love building systems.
But most of us don’t have a proper system for our own money.

I realized that the problem wasn’t income — it was visibility.

So I started working on a simple idea:

👉 What if tracking expenses felt frictionless?

That’s how Receipt and Expense Tracker was built.

The Core Idea

Reduce friction to near zero.

The app allows users to:
• Log expenses using voice input
• Scan receipts with AI
• Enter data manually
• Track income vs expenses
• View reports daily, monthly, or yearly
• Use multiple currencies (EGP, USD, EUR)

The focus wasn’t complexity.
It was clarity.

Why AI Matters Here

AI isn’t just a buzzword.
When you can scan a receipt and automatically extract details, you remove the biggest barrier: laziness.

Less friction = more consistency.
More consistency = better financial awareness.

The Real Goal

This isn’t about building another finance app.
It’s about helping people understand where their money actually goes.

Because once you see the numbers clearly, decision-making becomes rational instead of emotional.

How did you extract data from receipt? Which platform did you use to extract data?
