Why We Started Building Affordex
When people discuss salary, they usually focus on the gross number.
But what really matters is how much money you actually keep after tax.
That simple idea became the starting point for Affordex.
Affordex is a salary and tax calculator platform designed to help people better understand their real income through simple and transparent financial tools.
The problem we noticed
Many salary calculators online feel:
outdated
difficult to use
cluttered
or missing useful insights
A lot of them only show basic tax numbers without helping users truly understand:
take-home pay
Medicare impact
superannuation
income reality
salary growth
or real budgeting context
We wanted to build something simpler and more useful.
Why Australia first?
We decided to start with Australia because:
salary after tax searches are extremely common
tax rules are structured
many workers and expats struggle to estimate real income
Australia also has strong search intent around:

tax calculators
cost of living
salary comparisons
So it felt like the right market to start validating the platform.

Building in public
Affordex is still an early-stage project.

and slowly building the brand across different platforms
