Millions of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (DHH) individuals in Egypt face daily communication challenges. Our AI-powered system translates
Egyptian Sign Language (ESL) in real time into Arabic text and speech, using MediaPipe Holistic for gesture tracking and a two-layer LSTM for sequence modeling. The translator enables natural, fluent communication, bridging gaps in schools, workplaces, and public spaces.
Impact & Future Directions
- This project promotes inclusion and accessibility, while laying the groundwork for Arabic sign language AI research.
- Future plans include mobile deployment, expanded datasets, NGO collaborations, multilingual support, and advanced AI models for even more accurate real-time translation.
