AI-Powered Real-Time Egyptian Sign Language Translator

Developed by:
Ahmed Ashraf and Mohamed Ibrahim, AI Engineers.

Millions of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (DHH) individuals in Egypt face daily communication challenges. Our AI-powered system translates
Egyptian Sign Language (ESL) in real time into Arabic text and speech, using MediaPipe Holistic for gesture tracking and a two-layer LSTM for sequence modeling. The translator enables natural, fluent communication, bridging gaps in schools, workplaces, and public spaces.

Impact & Future Directions

  1. This project promotes inclusion and accessibility, while laying the groundwork for Arabic sign language AI research.
  2. Future plans include mobile deployment, expanded datasets, NGO collaborations, multilingual support, and advanced AI models for even more accurate real-time translation.
