WebP is ~30% smaller than JPEG at the same quality. But compress it wrong and you get mushy edges. Here's the right way.
Lossy vs lossless
- Lossy: drops pixels, big savings. Photos at 75-85 quality.
- Lossless: no quality loss. Graphics, screenshots, UI.
The quality slider
80 is the sweet spot for photos. Below 60? Artifacts on edges and text. Don't.
Batch smart
Compress by type. Photos lossy-80, UI lossless. Keep originals until you verify render.
