I spent six months planning my first digital product launch. Then I did the actual launch in 48 hours. The planning was the problem — not the execution.
Here's the exact process, using only free tools.
What You Need
- A digital product (we'll cover options below)
- A sales page
- A way to collect payment
- A way to deliver the product
- An email to follow up with buyers
That's it. You don't need a website, a social media following, or a tech background.
The Platform: Systeme.io (Free)
Everything in this guide runs on Systeme.io's free plan.
The free plan gives you sales funnels, email marketing, course hosting, and payment processing at zero cost. Create an account before continuing.
Step 1: Choose Your Product (Hours 1–4)
The fastest digital products to create:
Notion template: A pre-built Notion workspace solving a specific problem. Examples: content calendar, client onboarding system, habit tracker. These sell well for $7–$27.
PDF guide or checklist: A 5–15 page document on a topic you know well. Simpler than it sounds — your knowledge is the product.
Mini-course (3–5 videos): Record short screen share or talking-head videos covering a specific skill. Use your phone.
Prompt pack: A collection of AI prompts for a specific use case (copywriting, social media, etc.). Surprisingly popular, low effort to create.
Pick one. Keep it small. You can always expand it later.
Step 2: Build Your Sales Page (Hours 4–10)
In Systeme.io:
- Create a new funnel → Sales funnel template
- Choose a template close to what you need
- Edit the headline, subheadline, bullet points, and CTA
- Add your price and connect Stripe or PayPal
Your sales page needs:
- A clear headline stating the result your buyer gets
- 3–5 bullet points explaining what's included
- A price and buy button
- (Optional) a short "who this is for" section
Don't overthink this. A simple, clear page outperforms a complicated one.
Step 3: Set Up Delivery (Hours 10–14)
In Systeme.io, create a simple course with your product content (even if it's just a PDF — upload it as a lesson file). Set it to unlock automatically after purchase.
Connect the purchase to auto-enrol the buyer in the course. This is done via Systeme.io's automation rules — takes about 10 minutes.
Step 4: Write One Email Sequence (Hours 14–20)
You need two emails:
- Purchase confirmation: Thanks them, gives access link, sets expectations
- Day 3 follow-up: Check-in, answer common questions, soft upsell to your next product (even if you don't have one yet — you can add this later)
Use Everneed AI (https://everneedai.idevaffiliate.com/500.html) or any AI writing tool to draft these in under an hour.
Step 5: Get Your First Sales (Hours 20–48)
Without an audience, your options for first sales:
Post in relevant communities: Reddit, Facebook Groups, Discord servers in your niche. Be genuinely helpful, not spammy. Mention your product where it's directly relevant.
Post on social media: Even a small following can generate first sales. Be specific about the problem you're solving.
Tell people directly: Email or message 10–20 people who fit your target customer. Not a mass spam — personal, specific outreach.
Post on Gumroad or Etsy: Marketplaces bring their own traffic. Cross-list your product there pointing to your main Systeme.io funnel.
What to Expect
Realistic first-launch results: 1–5 sales in the first week. That's enough to validate the product. Scale from there.
The goal of a first launch isn't revenue — it's proof that the system works. Once you've made one sale, you know you can make more.
