Keep the coordinate reference, terrain provenance, source date, and update cadence explicit. A persuasive context model is not automatically a construction model.
3. Civil 3D: Make Site Geometry Traceable
Civil 3D is the production layer for survey-driven surfaces, profiles, corridors, grading, pipe networks, parcels, quantities, and documentation.
Set units, styles, feature definitions, surface naming, and revision ownership before modeling. Critical geometry should be reproducible from known inputs.
4. Site3D: Study Compact Developments Directly
Site3D is well suited to pads, finished floors, parking, slopes, drainage concepts, and access on small and medium sites.
It can bridge a conceptual plan and civil production, provided the team tests surfaces, breaklines, feature codes, units, and coordinate origins before exchange.
5. MicroStation: Control Multidiscipline References
MicroStation is a dependable environment for precise drawing and model coordination across architecture, civil, structural, and infrastructure disciplines.
Use consistent levels, references, naming, coordinates, seed standards, and revision rules. The model should remain legible as more owners contribute.
A Handoff Contract That Scales
Every transfer should state the coordinate system, vertical datum, units, source date, intended level of development, authoritative objects, and model owner.
This lets Shapezo remain expressive, InfraWorks remain contextual, Site3D remain focused, Civil 3D remain production-ready, and MicroStation remain controlled.
