What I Built
Ofrenda Digital - Tak Pernah Padam 🕯️ — a small, offline-first digital altar for my grandmother, Nenek Lia.
I didn't want to build something scary. Halloween and Día de los Muertos are about when the line between past and present feels thinner. In Indonesia we have nyekar — visiting graves with no signal, bringing favorite foods.
My interpretation: A digital ofrenda that you can bring to a cemetery without internet. The ghost is the memory, the machine is an old laptop that still runs AI without the cloud.

Bukan horor. Ini altar kecil di laptopmu.
Ofrenda Digital adalah altar digital untuk mengenang orang-orang terkasih yang telah berpulang — Nenek Lia, Kakek, Ibu, Ayah, sahabat, atau siapa pun yang ingin tetap dikenang.
Terinspirasi dari tradisi Día de los Muertos, proyek ini membawa konsep ofrenda ke dalam konteks Indonesia dengan pendekatan private, local-first, dan offline-capable.
Tidak perlu akun. Tidak perlu mengunggah foto keluarga ke server. Tidak perlu internet untuk membuka altar.
Kenangan tetap milik keluarga.

How I Built It
Gemma 2 2B via Ollama local at localhost:11434 — no API key. Current demo uses template so it runs on GitHub Pages, real code is commented in index.html.
Frontend: Vanilla HTML/CSS/JS, single file, FileReader, localStorage, custom validation.
Why Does Open Innovation Matter?
- Privacy Stays at Home — photo never leaves laptop
- Works Without Internet — for cemeteries with no signal
- Not Locked, Can Be Inherited — digital heirloom
- Zero Cost — one download = thousands of memories
Open innovation worked better than closed because it let me build something intimate that respects privacy, works offline, and lasts longer than any company.
The Spirit of It
When I tested with Nenek Lia, it said "Tak pernah padam" — not chills, but warmth. My mom saw it and said "ini kayak altar beneran". That's when it landed.
