Moli: a headless browser built for agents

Moli: a headless browser built for agents

Most agents do not need a full browser. They need the page structure and the result of a script.

Moli is a headless browser built from scratch in Rust for that job. It keeps the DOM and computed CSS as the source of truth, and runs layout or paint only when a task genuinely needs it, so extracting HTML or Markdown never triggers a render.

What you get

  • V8 JavaScript, Fetch, WebCrypto, and storage
  • CLI, CDP, WebDriver, and MCP access
  • 34 releases and 22,888 stars on GitHub as of 7 November 2026

Try it first for reading, and test it on your own pages before trusting it with clicking.

Quick poll

What would you use Moli for first?

  • Reading and extracting pages
  • Running scripts headlessly
  • Driving it through MCP or CDP
  • I would not trust it with clicking yet

If you found Moli interesting, I write about tools like this every week in The AI-Native Engineering Leader, what actually works for engineering leaders building with AI agents, and what to skip.
