I set up SSH for my AWS EC2 instance, and it took me 3 days to get right. The problem was the security group: I didn't open port 22, so I couldn't connect. I also lost my key pair, and had to create a new instance from scratch.
Now I back up my key pairs to /home/allnoworg/public-apis/aws.txt, and I open port 22 only to my home IP. The free tier instance runs my betting bot 24/7, and I've had no issues for 8 months.
If you're using AWS EC2, back up your keys and lock down security groups. One mistake can lock you out of your instance.
