Software Architecture Youtube Channels to Follow

As Youtube is one of the most preferred channels nowadays, in Apiumhub ( https://apiumhub.com/ )we decided to create a list of our favourite software architecture youtube channels that we believe will inspire you. These youtube channels are managed by leading software architects who have written software architecture books and who regularly participate in international conferences and who give hands-on workshops.

Software Architecture Youtube Channels to Follow

  1. Mark Richards

This is one of our most favorite youtube channels. We met Mark in Global Software Architecture Summitwhere he gave his talk on “Architectural Thinking” and where we understood how good he is in software architecture.

Mark came up with an excellent initiative called “Software Architecture Monday” which is is a free bi-weekly video lesson series on some aspect of software architecture. These 10 minute YouTube videos contain various aspects of application, integration, and enterprise architecture.

These are the videos he would recommend watching during the journey from developer to software architect.

I am pretty sure you know him, but in case you don’t, let me tell you a little bit more about Mark Richards. Mark is an experienced, hands-on software architect involved in the architecture, design, and implementation of microservices architectures, service-oriented architectures, and distributed systems. He has been in the software industry since 1983 and has significant experience and expertise in application, integration, and enterprise architecture. Mark is the founder of DeveloperToArchitect.com, a free resource website devoted to helping developers in the journey to software architect. He is the author of numerous technical books and videos from O’Reilly, including several books on Microservices, the Software Architecture Fundamentals video series, Enterprise Messaging video series, Java Message Service, 2nd Edition, and a contributing author to 97 Things Every Software Architect Should Know. Mark has a master’s degree in computer science and numerous architect and developer certifications from IBM, Sun, The Open Group, and Oracle. Mark has spoken at hundreds of conferences and user groups around the world on a variety of enterprise-related technical topics.

  1. Continuous Delivery

Continuous Delivery youtube channel is managed by Dave Farley, who we also met in GSAS. Dave is a brilliant speaker and a thought-leader in the field of Continuous Delivery, DevOps and Software Development in general. He is co-author of the Jolt-award winning book ‘Continuous Delivery’, a regular conference speaker and blogger and one of the authors of the Reactive Manifesto. Dave has been having fun with computers for over 30 years and has worked on most types of software, from firmware, through tinkering with operating systems and device drivers, to writing games and commercial applications of all shapes and sizes. He started working in large scale distributed systems more than 25 years ago, doing research into the development of loose-coupled, message-based systems – a forerunner of MicroService architectures. Dave has a wide range of experience leading the development of complex software in teams, both large and small, in the UK and USA. Dave was an early adopter of agile development techniques, employing iterative development, continuous integration and significant levels of automated testing on commercial projects from the early 1990s. Dave is the former Head of Software development at LMAX Ltd, home of the OSS Disruptor, a company that are well known for the excellence of their code and the exemplary nature of their development process. Dave is now an independent software developer and consultant, and founder and director of Continuous Delivery Ltd. In this youtube channel you will explore ideas that help to produce better software faster. You will get ideas in Continuous Delivery, DevOps and Software Development in general.

This youtube channel is created by software craftspeople who are passionate about their profession. They build well-crafted software and share how they do it here.

This youtube channel is managed by a community of passionate individuals whose purpose is to revolutionize software design, creation and delivery, while advocating for positive social change. Their videos include events talks as well as webinars and learning materials.

  1. O’reilly

O’Reilly is a learning company that helps individuals, teams, and enterprises build skills to succeed in a world defined by technology-driven transformation. Here you will find videos from the events as well as educational videos created by leading software architects.

  1. Domain-Driven Design Europe

Domain-Driven Design Europe is a conference for senior software developers and architects interested in software design. In this youtube channel you may find some key recorded talks from the event.

This youtube channel is created for developers, by developers. GOTO Conferences is a series of software development conferences focused on gathering the best minds in the software community to bring the most interesting topics to light. This channel features video interviews and presentations from GOTO Conferences and GOTO Nights.

  1. Mike Amundsen

An internationally known author and speaker, Mike Amundsen travels the world discussing network architecture, Web development, and the intersection of technology and society. He works with companies large and small to help them capitalize on the opportunities provided by APIs, Microservices, and Digital Transformation. Amundsen has authored numerous books and papers. He contributed to the O’Reilly book, “Continuous API Management” (2018). His “RESTful Web Clients”, was published by O’Reilly in February 2017 and he co-authored “Microservice Architecture” (June 2016). His latest book — “Design and Build Great APIs” — for Pragmatic Publishing is scheduled for release in 2020.
