An old Android phone can still be useful long after it stops being your daily device. One of the most practical jobs for it is serving as a webcam, especially when a laptop camera looks poor or a desktop computer has no camera at all.

USB takes a little more setup, but it is usually the more dependable choice for a longer meeting or recording session. It also helps keep the phone powered. Before anything important, record a short test and check synchronization, resolution, microphone input, battery temperature, and whether notifications can interrupt the session.
Placement matters more than resolution
A stable mount and decent front lighting often improve the picture more than selecting the highest available resolution. Place the phone close to eye level, clean the lens, and avoid a bright window directly behind you. If the computer already has a good microphone, use the phone only for video so the voice does not sound distant.
