This is a topic that came to me in many different ways.
- Videos from Micheal Tellinger about the UBUNTU movement in South Africa.
- Video from Pr. Franz Hörman (Vienna)
- The book The Design of Everyday Things from Donald A. Norman
- Our current financial system which may collapse soon
- The bitcoin which brought us the blockchain technology
- I have created software for banks in Frankfurt and Zürich
All of this triggers my problem solving skills.
I have already built an Android app to scoop (create/issue) a currency and pay without internet connection using QR-Code and Camera.
Then I found out about minuto, a time based currency, which was almost good, but not perfect enough.
But today I saw the solution
Every currency ever created starts with a promise.
Gold: scarce by nature, hoarded by power.
Fiat: a government's promise. Breakable.
Crypto: computational proof of... solving puzzles.
Even Minuto – the beautiful time-based local currency – starts with a promissory note. A debt.
What if currency started with a completed act of giving instead?
Today, in a conversation in Wittenberg, something was born.
We call it Atesti por Dana para Minuto.
- Atesti – to bear witness (Esperanto)
- por – for (Esperanto)
- Dana – the gift, the giving (Sanskrit: दान, dāna)
- para – backed by / through
- Minuto – the Minuto Coupon
The flow is simple:
1. You give. Write code. Grow food. Teach. Heal. Build.
2. The community bears witness: "Yes. This person gave."
3. Only then does the Minuto Coupon come into existence.
4. You spend it – without guilt, without debt.
Because you already gave.
This is Proof of Work – but not Bitcoin's meaningless hashing.
Real work. Real giving. Witnessed by real humans in community.
Why this changes everything
- No inflation: you can't print what hasn't been given
- No hoarding incentive: you gave to receive, not to accumulate
- No demurrage needed: flow is built into the nature of the currency
- No bank: the community is the witness, the validator
- No speculation: value = actual giving already performed
The key inversion
| Old money | Atesti por Dana para Minuto |
|---|---|
| Promise → Money | Giving → Witness → Minuto Coupon |
| Future-facing debt | Past-facing proof |
| Can be broken | Cannot be undone |
| Breeds anxiety | Breeds trust |
UX Idea: LMC – The Digital Layer
What if the Minuto Coupon had a digital twin?
Same principle: no debt, no promise. Only witnessed giving.
Offline-capable. QR-based. In your pocket.
Local ledger. Or distributed. The community decides.
Physical Minuto + digital Minuto = one ecosystem. 🌱
This is open
No patent. No company. No VC.
Licensed: libera (Esperanto for free).
If you're building alternative currency systems, DAOs, time banks, local exchange networks – this concept is yours. Take it. Build it. Witness it.
The Minuto Coupon doesn't start with debt. It starts with giving.
🛠️ Wanna Forge the App?
A similar app already exists. It's called Shift – built with Compose and Kotlin. But since yesterday you can use Forge4D, running on Android today which might be a bit easier to develop than with Compose.
→ See how Forge4D runs on Android
Now imagine this: you build the next version – the one that witnesses giving, issues Minuto Coupons, and pays you back in Minuto. So you get paid for OSS. Give something to the world and you receive the first minutos. And who knows - someday you can spend them where the idea has arrived.
No VC. No salary. No debt.
Build it on CrowdWare. Get paid in Atesti por Dana para Minuto
