Recently, I came across a discussion in a design group where a fellow designer was trying to make UI cards the focal point of a website.
In some examples, she added lots of shadows and colorful strokes to the cards—but the results weren’t coming out well.
I reminded her that UI cards are meant to be simple to read and easy to understand by users.
Instead of overloading the cards with extra effects, an engaging and bold header placed above them can naturally draw the user's attention and truly make it the focal point.
Her response?
"I thought about that too, but I will bring it up again in the meeting."
It was great to see her confidence restored by embracing a simpler, more effective solution.
Sometimes, the best design approach is to keep it clean and user-friendly
