Will Google Anti-Trust Case Kill Mozilla ?

I've been a loyal user of Firefox and DuckDuckGo for years, not just out of habit, but out of principle. I’ve always gravitated toward privacy-first, open-source, and user-respecting tools. These aren't just apps to me, they represent a philosophy of what the internet should be.

But things are changing... Fast.

⚖️ In 2024, Google Was Officially Called a Monopolist

A U.S. judge formally labeled Google a monopolist, a major moment in tech history. The ruling aimed to rebalance the browser and search ecosystem, cracking open the market that’s long been dominated by a few giants.

But here’s the twist...

While Google and Apple might lose some billions here and there, Mozilla, the non-profit behind Firefox is staring down something much more serious: an existential crisis.

💰 Mozilla’s Lifeline? Google.

Over 85% of Mozilla’s revenue has historically come from Google, specifically from search engine royalties (yes, that default Google search bar in Firefox). Now, with antitrust pressure mounting, that revenue stream is looking shaky at best.

🌍 Why This Matters

This isn’t just tech industry drama. It’s a battle over the future of choice, privacy, and openness on the web. Firefox isn’t just “another browser.” It’s one of the only major browsers not built on Google’s Chromium engine. It’s open-source. It’s designed to serve users — not advertisers.

If we lose Firefox, we lose more than a browser. We lose an alternative vision of the internet.

👉 Mozilla, Google, and the Future of Browsing

Let’s talk about this. Let’s support the tools that support us. And let’s not take the open web for granted
