New AWS WAF Feature: Top Insights Visualizations

Video in English - transcription in the video and below.

Hello, everyone! Today, I’m excited to share a fantastic update from the AWS world: the AWS WAF Console now includes an incredible new feature – Top Insights Visualizations. This upgrade will transform the way you analyze traffic and optimize your security configurations!

With Top Insights Visualizations, you now gain detailed insights into the top traffic sources in your environment, thanks to advanced visualizations powered by CloudWatch logs. In addition to the traditional All Traffic Dashboard, we now have a new section that provides richer and more specific insights, including:

  • Rules that are terminating requests;
  • Client IPs generating the most traffic;
  • Most accessed URI paths.

These insights are important to understanding your application's security posture, quickly detecting traffic anomalies, and optimizing your WAF configurations more efficiently."

And what does this mean in practice?

  • You can detect suspicious traffic from a specific IP and create a blocking rule immediately.
  • Monitor which rules are triggered most frequently to fine-tune your configuration.
  • Enhance user experience by optimizing critical paths based on traffic behavior.

This feature is now available in all commercial regions where AWS WAF is supported. The best part? It works with CloudWatch logging destinations, with costs applying under standard CloudWatch pricing for metrics and log queries.

If you’re looking to elevate your security and gain full control over your traffic, this is the perfect solution. Don’t wait – try out the Top Insights Visualizations now and take your environment’s security to the next level.

See you in the next video for more AWS updates! Bye for now!
