What "free" really covers when you block YouTube Shorts on iPhone (2026)

minulo hides YouTube Shorts on iPhone for free while normal videos, search and subscriptions keep working, and it only charges for extras like nightly schedules. I'm the developer of minulo.

A side-by-side table of the free options: Free ways to block YouTube Shorts on iPhone

When people ask for a "free Shorts blocker", they usually mean one of three things. It helps to know which one you need.

1. A free setting inside YouTube

The Shorts feed limit costs nothing: You › Settings › Time management › Shorts feed limit, then 0. The catch is that an adult account can dismiss the reminder, so it works best on days you already want to stop.

2. A free way to watch YouTube without Shorts

Here you open YouTube in another app or in Safari with an extension that hides Shorts. Some of these are free in every part. In minulo, this is the part that's free:

  • Hide the Shorts shelf, Hide the Shorts tab and Send Shorts links to the normal player are free, with no time limit.
  • Normal videos, search, subscriptions and Watch later stay.

3. A free way to keep yourself out of the YouTube app

iPhone Screen Time is free, but it blocks YouTube as a whole. In minulo, locking the official YouTube app with Screen Time is free for up to 2 hours per block. Blocks that switch on by themselves every night, and longer blocks, are minulo Pro.

Which one to pick

If you mostly lose time to Shorts but still need normal videos, number 2 matters most. If the problem is opening the YouTube icon out of habit, add number 3. Either way, the official YouTube app itself doesn't change: Shorts are hidden only where you watch through minulo.
