Pivoting? - part 1

I started to use the word pivot more often after I read the book "The Lean Start-up" by Eric Ries. Although I only read half of it before I decided to put it down like a rabid dog. A manoeuvre I think encouraged by the author himself (lol). But regardless of how far I got in the book, it's impact cannot be understated, because it improved my lexicon

Language is often associated with thought process, it affects the way we understand abstract concepts and even our immediate environment. The way we express emotions, feelings are all related to the language we know and communicate in. That's why reading becomes a fundamental part of any success story, it improves the way we think. Improving vocabulary through reading increases our mental map size, giving us more routes to traverse in our minds and ways to think.

The way express my words, the vocabulary I use all change depending on where I am and who I am speaking too. This is the same regardless I have found even when transitioning into a new field. While I am not an avid traveller, my little experience crossing borders (legally) has shown me that different environments call for different languages. Well I only speak one fluently and it has shown me the limits first-hand of being monolingual.

Transitioning can be a daunting experience and no I am not writing this to give you hope, like I have suddenly found a way to effectively transition to an unfamiliar sector.

I wrote this to remind us, the importance of language, knowing multiple helps us navigate various environments.
