If you're a software developer with an interest in entrepreneurship and startups, you may want to check out The 24 Hour Startup Challenge, which is live-streaming on Saturday. I know some of the folks behind it and they're good people. We even tossed in a bit of DEV swag as prizes to help out.
You may want to partake, but likely it could be an interesting opportunity to learn from those opening up the process to the world.
I'm personally quite intrigued by this. I myself am a startup founder. I've taken a distinctly different approach which involved lots of time and tinkering, rather than a plunge. But the plunge is an interesting approach and I plan on tuning in to see what folks are up to.
Does startup culture care too much about launches and not sustained growth? Probably. Is a 24 hour challenge the healthiest way to build software? Probably not. But it sure sounds like a fun and unique event.
I'm leaning towards maybe taking part in some capacity myself.

As Ben alluded, yes this idea to build a product in 24 hours is 100% crazy :)
If you're interested in side projects or have some idea you've been kicking around, this may be a great way to kickstart that project and just get it done!
As a dev, I have built & toyed with a lot of things, but struggled to build up the confidence to actually launch them. I hope this can help devs confront those fears.
If you want to see what some people are building, you can see the full list here. Lots of cool stuff.
Any questions? happy to answer them.
If you participate do you have to start from scratch?
To be eligible in voting and for the prize money, yes. But if you are already working on something we still encourage you to join and use the challenge to launch and/or get things shipped! It's a fun, positive community that has been motivating lots of ppl :)
Ugh, I'm teaching on Saturday or else I would love to participate. This is so cool, both of my big side projects where initially written in a couple hours, so can totally see this really working out for people!
I would want to see how they go about not only building the software, but marketing it. I am sure that probably won't be part of the 24 hour project, but it would be interesting to see/hear how they plan to get the word out (aside from this obvious method of taking part in a huge live-stream event)
One of the goals of the challenge is to launch on Product Hunt, Reddit, IH, dev.to :), and any other places you can think of to get the word out to the right audience.
We have a Telegram community and are sharing a lot of best practices and hope to carry on helping after the challenge with marketing, validation, and monetization.
Looks neat!
And the site looks like it's from cruip.com 😉
Yes! Had a chat with those guys, they are doing awesome stuff.
@thepatwalls will be able to answer questions about this.
This is a really good idea ! I don't be able to participate this saturday but I hope there will be an other edition soon :)
