Why Your Small Business Is Not Showing Up on Google (. 7 Free Things You Can Do This Week)

No company, no big money. Just the simple things most business owners ignore.

You have a product, satisfied customers and a website.. When someone looks for what you sell you are not there.

It is annoying. It is not because Google does not like your site. It is because of a simple mistakes that are easy to fix. Here are the seven that are most important.

  1. Your Google Business Profile is not there or not confirmed

For searches like "restaurant nearby" or "plumber in [your city]" the map results on top come from your Google Business Profile, not your website. If it is not claimed, not confirmed or not filled out you are not seen where most local customers look first.

Fix: Take ownership of it confirm it and fill in every part: categories, times, services, images and description.

  1. Your website does not show where you are

business websites never say their city, area or service area clearly. Google cannot rank you for "near me" searches if it does not know where you are.

Fix: Put your location in your homepage headline, page titles and footer. Add a map on your contact page.

  1. Your page titles are not

"Home" or "Welcome to Our Website" tells no one anything. Your page title is one of the signs of what the page is about and it is the blue link people actually click.

Fix: Use a pattern like Service + Location + Brand for example "Wedding Photography in Palakkad | Studio Name."

  1. You have one page for all your services

If you offer five services putting them all on one page means none of them shows up well.

Fix: Give each service its own page with a clear explanation, who it is for pricing help and a call to action.

  1. Your content does not show experience

Google is starting to reward content that shows real experience, knowledge and trust. Copy-pasted descriptions and unclear claims do not.

Fix: Add images of your work, your process, customer feedback and a proper "About" page that tells who you are and why people can trust you.

  1. Your site is slow or not working on

Most local searches happen on phones. If your site takes long to load or the buttons are too small visitors go away and Google notices.

Fix: Check your site on your phone. Compress images, remove extra stuff and make sure your phone number is easy to call.

  1. You are not getting reviews

Reviews affect both rankings and trust. A business with real reviews usually does better than one with none.

Fix: Ask customers directly and send them your review link on WhatsApp or text right after a good experience. Never. Make up reviews.

Where to start

Do not try to do all seven once. Start with #1 because it is the quickest and often has the effect for local businesses. Then go down the list one fix each week.
