I asked this one my LinkedIn today. What is the difference between a software engineer and a software developer?

The way that I always looked at it, a software developer writes code but a software engineer also designs, deploys, tests, and maintains it. A software engineer writes code but there is much more to it.
When I was hired into my current job as a Laravel developer, I was the only person in the shop. There was no project manager, tester, database administrator, or dedicated ops folks. There was just me. I argued for the Software Engineer monicker to recognize that I was expected to do more than sling code.
Yeah I guess that's one way of looking at it. Thanks Joe
A software engineer is a developer who adheres to engineering principles.
