For a programming language to become successful, or at least known to more than 2 people, a book is needed.
Frankie Programming Language is a programming language born by stitching together my favourite programming languages, Ruby, Python, FORTRAN, and R.
I decided to freeze Frankie updates on v1.21.0 and start writing the book, which I call, in a friendly way, The Book of Frankie.
While writing the book, I found some nasty bugs as well as some improvements to be made, so right now, Frankie is on v1.22.2, and it will remain like that for the longest time. While bug fixes will be applied, no new functionality will be added. I want the Book of Frankie to be a complete reference for Frankie developers.
To write the book, I’m using Quarto on RStudio. I have never used Quarto before, so this was a great opportunity to give it a spin, and I need to say, it rules.
The book has 28 chapters, and it’s around 206 pages long. So enough reading to keep you busy.
The book is not yet available, as I still need some valuable input from my reviewers. I will update the website once the book is ready for purchase.
If you haven’t tried Frankie yet, here’s the easiest way to get it:
brew tap atejada/frankie
brew trust atejada/frankie
brew install frankie
Oh! BTW, would you like to be a beta tester? Your name will appear in the book as a beta tester, and the only thing you need to do is send me bug reports on either the book or Frankie itself 🤓
How do you apply? Simply enough, clap this story, share it (optional), and leave a comment saying that you want to become a beta tester. After that, send me an email to atejada-at-gmail.com with the subject Frankie Beta Tester.
I will send a free complimentary copy to up to 10 beta testers, so hurry up and apply 🥳
While I know that Frankie will never be widely adopted, I would like to at least form a nice niche community 🤓
