Sometimes, you find yourself unable to sleep late at night, and you get an idea in your head that you just have to get out. This is one of those times… Disney folks, if you’re reading this, please don’t sue me! 😉 Edit: In the cold light of day, this post was a bit cringy - but I don't care.

The DevOps Creed

by Chris Funderburg

We are keepers of systems.

We are builders of platforms.

We are guardians of flow.

This is the way.

We do not serve silos; we break them down.

We do not cast blame; we sharpen feedback.

We are shepherds, not servants, to the complexity we wield.

This is the way.

Rollbacks are not shame, they are wisdom.

Change is constant, so we design to absorb it.

Data is critical, so we design to secure and safeguard it.

Infrastructure is not art, it is code, reproducible and true.

This is the way.

We raise cattle, not pets.

We tend clusters, not kingdoms.

We guard uptime, but not at the cost of our humanity.

This is the way.

We encrypt at rest and in transit.

We log immutably, so truth can not be denied.

We patch - without hesitation - without excuse.

This is the way.

No deployment goes untested, no alert goes unanswered.

Collaboration is our strength, resilience is our craft.

As stewards, we mentor those who follow, so that wisdom outlives us.

Virtue lies not in toil, but in systems that empower, in platforms that endure.

This is the way.

We honour the craft.

We serve the community.

We walk the path.

We follow the Creed.

This is the way.
