Community posts are floating a Claude Opus 5.5 story again: internal string claude-wafer-eap, rumored ~$4/$20 API pricing, and a possible Tuesday (Sep 22) window. Anthropic has not announced any of that.
What is documented recently is messier and more useful: an unreleased Opus build was reportedly served under the normal Opus label, then briefly cut (the “midnight shock” chatter). Treat the 5.5 name + price sheet as rumor until there’s a model card or API id.
