Not sure I agree with this article to be honest. You're assuming that GUIDs are private data; that's context dependent. Also, for all intents and purposes while GUIDs can be non-unique, the chances are supposed to be 1 in 2^122 which is an awfully high number. Most of the processing that goes into GUIDs is the attempt to get them unique on generation. I think this article might've been more useful if you'd gone into details about how GUIDs are generated, perhaps? I think what I'm trying to say is that this article is a little too light-weight...
