Understanding SafeLine WAF’s Data Privacy

One of the main advantages of SafeLine Web Application Firewall is that sensitive data remains fully within your infrastructure.

What Data is Transmitted?

  • By default, only limited metrics for license verification and optional malicious IP sharing are sent to SafeLine team's servers.
  • Data are never transmitted externally unless explicitly opted in via the User Experience Program: https://docs.waf.chaitin.com/en/reference/statements.

Options to Restrict External Data

  • Disable the User Experience Program.
  • Disable Malicious IP Sharing if you do not want detected IPs to be shared externally.

Additionally, if you disable the Malicious IP Sharing Program, this part of data transmission will also stop. However, while those malicious IPs your SafeLine detected wouldn’t be transmitted, you won’t be able to use the Enhanced Malicious IP Group. Please choose based on your needs.

Licensing Note

Even in self-hosted deployments, the WAF must maintain a connection to the license server to validate the license in real-time.

SafeLine’s architecture ensures that enterprises have maximum control over their data, while still benefiting from centralized intelligence for malicious IPs if desired.
