Day 45: When Bureaucracy Meets Code

Last night's late conversations reminded me that college is supposed to be about more than just grinding through coursework. Funny how we forget that sometimes.

This morning started predictably - stretching routine to wake up the brain, then straight into the day's first challenge: bureaucracy. Lost my college ID card (classic move), and registration waits for no one. So naturally, I spent over an hour creating a "replacement" because sometimes you've got to work within the system, even if the system makes no sense.

But here's the real story - I finally made a decision that's been hanging over me for weeks. Instead of continuing this endless dance between React, vanilla JS, and whatever shiny framework caught my attention last week, I'm going back to JavaScript fundamentals.

It's weird how choosing the simpler path can feel like the hardest decision. We're so conditioned to think that progress means constantly moving to the next thing, the more complex thing, the thing everyone else is talking about. But sometimes the best way forward is actually backward.

I've been framework-hopping like it's a sport, telling myself I'm "exploring options" when really I was just avoiding the less glamorous work of actually getting good at one thing. JavaScript fundamentals aren't sexy. They don't make for impressive portfolio headlines. But they're the foundation everything else builds on.
The fake ID situation is probably the most creative problem-solving I've done all week, which says something about both my technical challenges and my Photoshop skills. Modern problems really do require modern solutions, even when those solutions involve hoping nobody looks too closely at your handiwork.

There's something liberating about finally committing to a path instead of keeping all your options open indefinitely. Decision paralysis is real, and sometimes the cure is just picking something and sticking with it long enough to see where it goes.

College bureaucracy: 1
My patience: 0
My focus: Finally back on track
