I am using mindfulness. Meditation and journaling so that you have a clear defined path for the goals that you are working on. And you can gauge your progress.
What type of journaling are you doing?
At the moment I am doing gratitude journaling as I am trying to increase the positivity in my life. I am also working on doing goal related journaling so at the end of each month. I will do an assessment of the month so I can see what progress has been made. This can include personal growth, career, programming, life etc...
