Today I wandered a little off course. It is Sunday, so why not? I decided to take a deeper dive into CORE 02 in Daemoncore Academy, and if I had to describe it in one word: epic.
The breadth of this platform is incredible. I also want to make something very clear: everything I experienced in Daemoncore Academy up until CORE 02 was completely free. Academy itself is free, the hands-on material is free, and there is an almost ridiculous amount available before anyone asks you to spend a dime. Moving into CORE 02 cost me $10, and after seeing what is actually in there, that price almost feels absurd.
As an educator, I could comfortably structure an entire year around Daemoncore Academy and cover 100% and more of the recommended cybersecurity learning structure. The material does not simply check boxes either. It goes considerably deeper than what I would normally expect from a training platform at this price point.
What I especially love is that it is genuinely hands-on. This is not endless clicking through slides while pretending information is somehow teleporting into your brain. You actually have to do the work. You are not moving forward until you complete the task and answer the question at hand. Students have to demonstrate that they understand what they are doing instead of simply reaching the bottom of a page and clicking Next.
With the educator package apparently coming at the beginning of the year, I am extremely interested in seeing where they take this. If you are an educator and happen to come across this post, consider it a sign: take a serious look at Daemoncore Academy.
For transparency, I have ZERO incentive to write this. I am not affiliated with Daemoncore, I was not asked to post it, and nobody is compensating me. I suppose I simply felt obligated after seeing how much mediocre cybersecurity material is being sold in the name of making a buck. We are supposed to be preparing students for a field that changes constantly and has real consequences. They deserve something better than recycled definitions, multiple-choice quizzes, and a certificate at the end.
Daemoncore Academy actually makes them work for the knowledge. That is exactly what I want from a cybersecurity education platform.
