Alternative programming choices apart from Web Development

Since Web Development is a trend which just seems to grow and expand daily, it is inevitable to not see web-dev articles, tutorials, tips etc. on a daily basis.
That's not very good news for people who are not too keen on being web developers/designers and so on.

What are some other good choices for programmers?
