First Post — I’m a Video Guy Who Wanted My FAQ Page to Look Like a VCR

I’m not a web developer. I’m a video guy who has slowly taught himself enough HTML, CSS and SEO to keep rebuilding my own site.

Recently, I reworked my FAQ page.

I wanted something useful for people looking for video production information, better internal linking, and a clearer page for Google to crawl — but I didn’t want another generic FAQ accordion.

So I built it like an old VCR.

The FAQ is divided into tape tracks, with PLAY, REWIND and FAST FORWARD controls moving through the different sections.

Behind the VCR interface, the questions and answers are still regular HTML content with headings, internal links and crawlable text.

I’m completely self-taught, so a lot of this has been figuring things out as I go. I’m sure there are more elegant ways to build parts of it, but that’s part of the fun.

This is my first post here, so I thought I’d start by sharing something I actually built.
